Home Editorial Balance Mass Effect 3 patch notes – multiplayer

Before you scroll down, here’s the good news: lots of weapons got buffed. Nearly every assault rifle and SMG (yes, they are actually in the game) received a large boost to damage and ammunition stock. Many also received weight reductions, allowing you to equip more guns while still keeping your cooldowns under control.

This is certainly a welcome change since SMGs as a whole were completely useless despite their light weight, and many assault rifles were simply outclassed by more powerful options. Now you can open up auto fire more often!

As far as I’m concerned, there’s no bad news, but if you absolutely rely on Decoy/Drones/Turrets to screw with enemy AI, these abilities have been toned down a bit. From now on, fewer enemies will be lured into attacking them.

Essentially, this makes it less likely to solo two Geth Primes and a Pyro at once. We all have to admit Decoy was stupidly overpowered, and in some circumstances even the lowly Quarian turret could roadblock half the enemy force by itself. Now, you’ll have to rely on teamwork instead of playing Mass Effect Tower Defense™.

  1. For the combat drones, the reduced number of enemies targeting it is actually a much-needed buff when it comes to gold! It used to just get one-shoted immediately.

    • I agree. It’s really only a nerf for Decoy, thus buffing Human and Quarian engies a bunch. And since I plan to write my next guide on Quarian Engineers, all the better.
