  1. I’m quickly becoming a fan of yours. You’ve got a good eye for production.

Have you considered narrating the spy videos (like, with a microphone)? Or is your voice…something you’d rather not share?

    • I did try it originally, but the reality is that it just adds way too much time to the production of the videos. As it is, it took about 4 hours to get the footage for this video, 2 hours to capture it with FRAPS, and 5 or 6 (maybe more) hours to edit the video together. If I added audio commentary, would probably add another 5 hours, mainly because it’s much harder to change it than it is a subtitle.

      • I think you’re probably better off doing subtitles with music, as I can’t imagine any kind of music going with voice commentary as well. It’d detract from your videos overall more than it would help, I’d wager. Unless you started doing direct downloads for them and setting up two audio tracks, I suppose. Not like that would increase the production time twofold or anything…nope.

  2. So, WiNG, still considering taking other peoples’ demos and commentating them? Cause I’ve been playing some pretty good Spy lately. :D

Hell, I’d record it and send it to you, if only to get your sexy commentary on it.

    • Sure you can always send it, it just takes a while to go through them, and if it’s not really usable I feel bad to have wasted your time!

  3. Glad to hear you’re going to dive back in. I can certainly sympathise with wanting to take a break, a lot of people have no idea the amount of time and effort goes into videos like your’s.

I’ve really enjoyed your videos, actually still do, and found them very helpful in my own Spy attempts. Stress plays on my Droid far more than it really should.

  4. I don’t know if you saw the latest update. It may allow you to use the demo files you already have on hand. Then again, maybe not. But might be worth a look.

Updates to Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

    Engine

Increased the resilience of client/server data table mismatches when playing back demos. This will make most old demo files playable again, but with potential visual side effects
