We are now hearing about the AR capabilities of the new controller. We’ve got a demo where arrows fly at you from all directions and you have to use the controller to look around and block them with a shield. Sounds interesting, but could easily get annoying and gimmicky in real games. Reggie is reiterating these are not games in development, just system demos.

Theres a smash bros game coming for both 3DS and for Wii u. And they’re going to work together somehow. We’re now hearing about the tech demos they have for us to play at their booth. None of these are games, just system demos. The graphics the system can render look pretty impressive from what we are seeing. Definitely 360 and PS3 level.

Note, this is not a portable game machine. The controller gets video streamed wirelessly from the console “without latency issues”. Sounds like there’s a lot of interesting ways to use the new controller, and it’s up to the developers to decide how to use it. Theres a full interview with Miyamoto up at e3.nintendo.com

The screen is 6.2 inches. You can use it as the screen for the console when someone else needs the TV. Giving other examples now, can weigh yourself on Wii fit without using the big tv. There are 2 analog sticks, the control screen, 4 rear buttons. Ooooooh front facing camera. We’re hearing now about how the controller is great for hardcore players.

NEW WII FIT OH MAH GAWD. Yah this actually looks pretty cool you can hold the controller up to the tv and get HUD. We also saw it put on the floor and have it show a golf ball while using the Wii mote as a club. This is actually really cool looking. Coming in 2012!!
