Home Editorial Balance A sweet farewell to Street Fighter IV on the eve of Super

While I’m well aware that many, many, many players have Super Street Fighter 4 already (including my brother, whose online status taunts me even now!), tonight is the official last evening before Super Street Fighter IV.

I’d like to share with you a touching hilarious video about the ups and downs of SF4, but first I probably ought to contribute something original.

Street Fighter IV was a game I was against from the start. No parries? Why bother. 3D characters? What a dumb idea. Absolutely zero characters from my beloved Street Fighter 3 series? Blasphemy.

But, at some level, I knew I had to buy it. I had to play it. I had to uppercut people in the face until the cows came home. It was a deep-seated urge 20 years of marketing in the making, and it wouldn’t be satiated until double fireball motions were being inputted in a crazed fervor.

As the video points out, SF4 definitely had its share of balance issues, as well as bugs, lame tactics, and other minor faults. But in the long run, it made for a successful return in a franchise that hasn’t seen the light of day in nearly a decade. With that said, it’s time to put the past behind us, because it looks like it’s time to oil up! You know this song.
