Home Editorial Jozhear puts the super in Super Street Fighter IV

Just as many of you may respect my work in the worlds of Team Fortress 2 and Assassin’s Creed, so too do I have my own idols. And since vanilla Street Fighter 4 launched, that’s been Jozhear.

While Jozhear may not necessarily be the greatest Vega/Balrog/Claw player on Earth, he’s certainly quite talented.

Active in the communities of GameFAQs, SRK, and other sites with lots of hardcore competition, he posted frequently to bestow wisdom upon aspiring Spanish ninjas like myself.

Unlike some other forum-goers, Joz didn’t have the same level of ego and elitism commonly found in e-sports. Instead, he worked with others to hone his craft while instructing the greater Super Street Fighter 4 community. He certainly taught me more than a few tricks, both “in person” online and via observations of videos featuring his gameplay. The one thing Jozhear hadn’t done, though, was make a big mark at the tournament scene (to my knowledge), though he did attend EVO and several other major events.

But at the Canada Cup 2011 5v5, he did his country proud against some top-notch competition. Pulling off flawless 1-frame links, ridiculous footsies, and combos I didn’t even know existed, he impressed everyone in attendance. I don’t want to spoil the results, but his execution and performance under pressure speak for themselves.

What are you waiting for? Watch the damn event yourself!
