I would like to know everyone’s favorite ability set, mine is WiNG’s death match ability set though I occasionally switch throwing knives for mute.

ShinryuRQs

I like my deathmatch setup.

Ability #1: Mute
Ability #2: Smoke Bomb
(Both abilities were crafted with reduced durations)

Perk #1: Overall Cooldowns
Perk #2: Kill Buffer

Win Streak; 5 Kill Silent (+550)
Loss Streak: x2

sumoka

Ability 1: Poison (crafted for 250 points and faster acting)
Ability 2: Smoke Bomb (crafted for larger size and shorter cool down)

Perk 1: Overall Cooldowns
Perk 2: Blender

Win Streak: 3 Kill Silent
Loss Streak: x2

i miss wall runner though, also debating on switching poison out for throwing knives

I’ve been trying to use Charge more since it’s pretty versatile. Still don’t have a real use for Closure or Teleport.

BigTime067

I found this very helpful in crafting abilities for shorter cooldown:

BigTime that’s an awesome resource! I feel there are some thing I’d like to plan out beforehand but I’ll definitely share that with the readership this week!

Atonement

Personally, I play Manhunt whenever I can, and I run two set ups, one for offense the other for defense.

Offense:
Ability 1: Templar Vision (far too many people use Morph in my experience, and helps with multiple Templars especially.)
Ability 2: Poison (sometimes I switch it with Throwing Knives/Hidden Gun if the enemy team enjoys running away or Mute, if they bunch together and stun commonly.)
Perk 1: Enhanced Autobash (I think. I should probably look into the new perks I’ve unlocked. Never do check ‘em.)
Perk 2: Blender (Easier for a sneaky approach, and sometimes I use this on Deathmatch, Wanted, etc., so I need to hide then too.)
Win Streak: 5 Kill (non-silent)
Loss Streak: Tracker (I think, another one I haven’t checked)

Defense:
Ability 1: Mute (for obvious reasons)
Ability 2: Bodyguard (sometimes, but much less commonly, Decoy)
Perk 1: Enhanced Autobash
Perk 2: Blender
Win Streak: 3 (or 5) kill (stuns, obviously.)
Loss Streak: honestly I have no clue.

Hardcore Hitomi

I use my DM setup for almost every FFA mode.
Ability 1: Smoke Bomb
Ability 2: Charge/Mute/Throwing Knives

Perk 1: Blender
Perk 2: Overall Cooldowns

Streak: 3 Silent Kills
Loss Streak: x2 score

I constantly switch my second ability depending on the level of the players in the lobby. If they are above level 20, I use Charge or Mute, and Throwing Knives are for the lower levels.

gunnawin911

For FFA modes i use

Ability 1: Smokebomb
Ability 2: Charge (i used this before Wingspantt did because it is like he said very versitile)
Perk 1: Blender
Perk 2: Overal Cooldowns
Streak: 5 silent
Loss Streak: Score Doubler

Toraka

@Atonement:
You should really switch out Enhanced Autobash in both sets. It is, like Wing says, complete crap.
Also, your offensive loss streak should be x2 score or Minor Hack.
Tracker is just useless.
Not much to say about def loss streak, since I don’t know what you’re using, but I have found that the best (or only) uses for that slot are either Revelation (if you’ve got a good team, you can constantly spot pursuers for them) or Cooldown reset thingy. It’s just so good, since it’s constantly active as soon as you’ve died 5 times, which happens quite a lot in Manhunt.

I usually run:

Off: Charge/Poison/Gun, depending on the enemy.
Blender/Overall C
3 silent/x2

Def: Smoke/Mute/Charge
Blender/overall C
3 silent/Revelations

Atonement

@Toraka After looking at this post and posting I reviewed my serums and have made several changes. On all of my sets I have the boost cooldown loss streak and usually a 5 non silent kill/stun streak. My main setup now is Mute and Smoke Bomb, sometimes using Templar Vision in place of Smoke. Perks are now usually Blender and Overall Cooldowns. Decided after some thought that I should delve into the realm of other perks and so I did. Sorry for any lack of capitalization, et cetera, I’m on my iPhone at the moment.

Crylic

This set is the one I use for nearly everything…

Charge: 1 point in CD, 1 point in Accuracy

Smoke-bomb: 2 points in CD

Killbuffer/Blender: Depends whether I’m focusing on killing or stunning.

Overall CD: I always have this perk on.

The +250 point Killstreak (Silent or not, depends on the other players)

Score X2 (just in case, so that I can set up a 1k+ kill)

I like this set, because I can kill with charge and smoke, and also defend with charge and smoke.

Dipneuste

My biggest concern is not to find my target but to stay alive most of the time, so I prefer using Mute rather than Charge.

My set for FFA is
Smoke bomb/Mute
Blender/Overall cooldowns
5 Silent/Score x 2

In the end I’m using the same set as in Brotherhood. The new abilities are fun but they’re not as good as the original ones except maybe Tripwire bomb.

WiNGSPANTT

How often do you find you get to trigger the 5-silent streak?

January 10, 2012 at 6:11 am #10957

Dipneuste

On Wanted I get it at least once in a game but in Deathmatch I feel lucky if I get it.
I still don’t know if it’s more efficient than using the 3 silent streak in Wanted.

Wedran

I use
Ability 1:Throwing knives 1 cooldown and 1 in target speed
Ability 2:Mute 1 cooldown and 1 range
Perk 1:Overall cooldowns
Perk 2:Blender
Kill streak: x5 +250 points
Loss streak:I dont think i even have it

January 19, 2012 at 10:09 pm #11182

WiNGSPANTT

Wedran I’d recommend against Target Speed for Throwing Knives. Since TK prevents high profile movement, ANY target speed is already reduced by about 75% under TK. Try doing 2 points in Cooldown, or 2 points in Duration, or a 1/1 split.

Thus far

I like having throwing knifes and smoke coupled with blender and sentry. And have 3 killstreak reward and a X2 loss streak

January 21, 2012 at 11:03 pm #11256

peace0459

In deathmatch I keep 3 profiles:
1. mute/smoke–cooldowns/blender–3 silent/cooldowns
2. poison/smoke–cooldown/blender–3 silent/2x score
3. knife/gun–cooldown/blender–3 silent/cooldown

I always start out with mute/smoke.

If I die enough or need to complete a variety+ I go with poison/smoke and try to go for a hidden/focus/poison/X2. It can sometimes be difficult to get since you need both abilities.

knife/gun is just to annoy wall runners–even if I don’t score high I get a real good laugh.

LovelessMemory

Main Set – “Heavy Strike”

Ability 1: Mute – 2 Points Cooldown
Ability 2: Hidden Gun – 2 Points Aim Time
Perk 1: Overall Cooldowns
Perk 2: Blender
Kill Streak: +250 5-Kill
Loss Streak: 2x Score.

Mute is my main defensive, which I choose over Smoke Bomb. So far, I like it, feels quite fast; smokes make me feel like I’m losing momentum. Also good for offensive, and has no tel-tale “I’m gonna go after you” animation that smokes have. Range is fine and the window is long enough, so I just dropped cooldown as far as I can.

Hidden Gun….well. Deathmatch and Assassinate (which is most games I get into/are voted for) tend to have a lot of runners and roofers, or at least on PC. Cooldown is enough to keep up with the rate that people choose to bolt or climb, so points into aim time is so that they really don’t have much time to escape. It’s my anti-runaway tool, really.

Overall Cooldowns speak for themselves.

Blender is generally for Deathmatch, to mitigate the lack of duplicates. I would like some input on if I should shift this to the kill buffer so I can tack on a better killstreak, or something to get an edge on runaways.

RudeOnion

As of now I have my sets Offensive, Defensive 1/2/3, and “Party Mix”. If I recall correctly (I don’t have my game in front of me), Offensive is Smoke and Gun/sometimes Knives, my Defensive ones consist of Smokebomb and a mix of Bodyguard, Disguise (sometimes Morph)and Decoy, and Party Mix is Smokebomb and Mute. I never use Closuer or Teleport – hell, I haven’t even bought them. Although interesting note – I actually had Closure used against me for the first time, last evening. Locked down both the door and the lift I was gunning for. We don’t have to discuss how that ended for me… I’m sure your imaginations are quite handy.

I’m still experimenting with crafting my abilities. Mute I switch around A LOT – I’m never quite happy with how it works. Smokebomb I did have on double cooldown, but seeing as my smoke was being outlasted by other people’s smoke and I have cooldowns as a perk in most sets anyway, I ditched one cooldown point and put it in duration. We’ll see how that works out for me.

I use either smokebomb with one in duration and range and mute with one range and duration or charge with double cooldowns. For a lot of the FFA modes but I always seem to change mute and charge a lot mostly because I either mute to late or my charge misses which is a lot.

For my perks I use overall cooldowns for obvious reasons and blender again for obvious reasons and I use the 3 silent streak for a lot of the FFA modes

For the loss stream I use either boost cooldowns or x2 but mostly I use boost cooldowns
