I play mostly deathmatch, and I rarely ever get up on the rooftops..

But occasionally I’ll try to use one of the lift chase breakers to escape someone. However, I sometimes end up just falling straight back down instead of landing on the roof, and then my pursuer gets a free acrobatic kill. I think it happens most often on the Mt St Michel lift (in the middle of the DM map). I’m not being hit by knives, and there’s nobody standing in my way on the roof.

Why does it do this? What can I do differently to make sure I actually end up on the roof?

That has never happened to me before. Maybe sometimes the game lags, and your pursuer gets the kill before you actually land on the roof, causing you to go back down. That, or someone could be using closure.

There’s usually quite a bit of time in between the lift failing and my pursuer getting the kill. It seems like they’re as surprised as I am

Try it out in training mode first to see if it’s replicating the issue. If you can’t replicate it, then it’s likely lag.

The other thing I can suggest is just to try holding forward throughout the whole animation.

I’ll fire up my game (PC Version, so may be versions?) and see if I can replicate. I think you’re just not telling the game to keep you moving forward.
