I want to know how most people earn stuns. I mostly use the corner trick were you wait around a corner for your pursuer to come and when he does, stun him when he least expects it. also, does it matter what stun animation you have? like if you have the headbutt will you have a better chance of stunning your pursuer then them killing you? Just a thought :)

Gunnawin,

I guess I doubt the animation matters, yet it does look like the simple slap is faster. My guess is that they have the same startup priority, but some take longer to recover from.

Anyway, I feel the most CONSISTENT stuns are from Smoke throws. The corner trick is great but it won’t work on better players or players who are using the Sentry perk.

Generally, you MUST catch your pursuers off guard. If you know who they are and you can get into stun range in less than a second, you should try to surprise them when they’re probably not having a lock on you. Don’t walk out, run right at them (only if you’re close, remember, reaction time) or use an ability and stun. You don’t want to give them time to use an ability or LoS to find you.

I don’t think animations CAN differ in the time they need, or else they wouldn’t be purely cosmetic. Headbutt takes longer for the animation and is a little more obvious, but BITCHSLAP has a small recovery time afterwards and you shake your hand.

I find the corner stun works best immediately after you’ve already stunned someone in a team game, in the period when they are unable to lock onto you and cannot see you on their radar. Without having you on the radar, the only information they have is the direction you ran in before you went behind the corner. By the time you appear on their radar again, it will probably be too late for them to adjust their strategy (if they even suspect something’s up). I break it down into these parts:

(1) Hit fool.
(2) Run like mad.
(3) Find a suitable (90 degree) corner about 15 or so yards away–You don’t want them reaching you before you can stun them again.
(4) Hide behind it. Stay as close to the wall as possible.
(5) Ensure none of his teammates know you’re there.
(6) Wait and watch around the corner.

If the person you stunned doesn’t follow you or climbs onto a roof, (7a) Move along. If he does follow you, (7b) Go. To. Town.

Finally, (8) Repeat. I’ve gotten six of these in a row on the same person before he finally figured me out and got on the roof. And I still got away safe and sound. Commonly, I get two or more.

It’s a great way to make some extra points in Manhunt, Chest Capture, etc., but as always, it helps to have Smoke Bomb or Mute ready to go, as there are several things that can go wrong which result in death.

I have found that in Corruption it is ridiculously easy to stun the Corrupted from a morphed group. It’s usually more effective from a moving group. When I play against noobs I generally just run up from behind and get an easy stun. When I play against higher leveled players I run away and force them to get less points or make themselves glaringly obvious. Usually my run gives me enough time for my abilities to recharge so that I can either get a lure or a stun.
