Anyone playing Team Fortress 2 last night was probably surprised to see that Captain Jack (UC), one of the appointed Golden Charity Wrenchers, had deleted his wrench with seemingly no warning, two days early. Shortly after this had transpired, I was able to speak to the Captain. After administering a 35-minute lecture on addressing a superior naval officer, he explained the situation behind the premature eradication.

With the fundraiser of the portion of the Golden Charity complete, there’s only one thing left to do:
throw the accursed wrenches into the fire from whence they came.

Recently Nukuler of Golden Wrench 10 visited a server I was present on. Naturally everyone was all nice about his wrench and asked about how he crafted it. We all got into the discussion of The Golden Wrench charity. We asked if he had considered donating his, and after a discussion he said he really wanted to take part in this, and then proceeded to delete his wrench.

The Golden Charity for Child’s Play has now reached more than 1,000 donations of $10 or more!

Yes, thanks to the extremely-appreciated official blessings by Valve, not to mention the incredibly generous and selfless spirit of the Team Fortress 2 community, what started as a crazy scheme by a crazy man is now over $9,000 in comfort and entertainment to severely sick children.

Now, I don’t really understand Australia very well, but apparently on Channel ABC 2 today (yesterday? two days ago?) the Golden Charity was mentioned on the Gamer News segment of the show Good Game. Whhhhaaaatttt??

If you’ve followed along with the history of the Golden Wrench, you probably know that I’m not the first person to think about destroying a Golden Wrench.
