While T3 doesn’t make a habit of posting things like this to the frontpage, we figured exposure for our historic charity of choice is always a good thing. It’s not too late to help push Child’s Play past $2 million before the end of the year!

This weekend was when the really nice chaps at QubeTubers decided to run their 48 hour Minecraft Marathon for Child’s Play and, for those of you who weren’t there, you missed a most glorious event. I’m currently working on getting the video recording of the event sorted out (I was assured that there was at least one person recording and was able to hold off the urge to burn explode things until then) so keep on watching this space to see the new and improved destruction of a Golden Wrench!
Why new and improved? None of this pansy-ass clicking ‘Delete’ destroying, we rigged that bitch with TNT and set it on fire. Twice.*
On Saturday, March 26th, five of the Top Tier Tactics writers got together for the first time to do something absolutely fiendish for a good cause. After hours of begging, building, planning, and falling to our deaths, we constructed the world’s first 20-story golden wrench in Minecraft. Gaze upon its beauty, mortals, and despair. For while some people dream of owning such a powerful tool, others take action and bring their desires to life.
As you could probably tell from the advertisement in the northeast corner of the site, Top Tier Tactics is joining the QubeTubers Minecraft Marathon Child’s Play Charity event! While we’re not going to be torturing ourselves with the 48-hour marathon (we’re not masochists, mind you), we will be hosting a live stream on QubeTubers at 6PM EST* on Saturday, March 26th 2011. It turns out Karmakilla was proud of what the TF2 community accomplished with the Golden Charity, and wanted to contribute as well.
Not content with everyday good deeds like helping old ladies cross the street and helping runaway criminals out of their chains, he and his brother organized their own fundraiser. They wanted to leverage the unified power of the Golden Wrench, PAX, Jerry Holkins (aka Tycho), and the alignment of all 8 planets to maximize the publicity and donations. Surely, these Biblical-level titans could somehow wrangle up $500 for Child’s Play in one day. Right?

Anyone playing Team Fortress 2 last night was probably surprised to see that Captain Jack (UC), one of the appointed Golden Charity Wrenchers, had deleted his wrench with seemingly no warning, two days early. Shortly after this had transpired, I was able to speak to the Captain. After administering a 35-minute lecture on addressing a superior naval officer, he explained the situation behind the premature eradication.
